Welcome to My Journey. This will be my first ever foray into the Digital Space. I am what you might call a luddite or a less pedantic thing like a Technophobe. Times and informational exchange change and I too must sally forth into the breach. So, I am being assisted by a few of my more courageous friends in the effort to chronicle my drivel for future generations to do with what they wilt.
Every good story has a beginning. Actually, every story has a beginning I suppose. It is the nature of our perception of time that causes this. Or, maybe it is because our minds have not developed enough to see and imbibe experience from all its wondrous angles as a whole. Or, maybe all of that is nonsense. At any rate, this is my beginning.
Well, It is a beginning for me. I have long toiled in the shadows of “Objective Reality” and in the glorious light of the “Transcendental Plane”. Now, I know what you might think. “Oh no, here we go, this guy is right off his nut. (Sniffs the air for patchouli) I really do not have time for this New Age garbage right now. I was just scrolling through my Instagram (sp?) and a friend posted a meme (sp?) that had this guys name at the bottom. Just let me get back to searching out new and interesting cat videos.” This is a fair assessment.
That said, I will do my absolute best to not over load you with New Age techniques or yoga programs or homeopathic free range garter belts. In fact my intent is the opposite. My focus is on the Old Age, Now Age and the Perpetual Age. I am concerned with the part of our Linear Perception of Time dealing with the Eternal.
“But Patrick, doesn’t the word Eternal essentially render useless the idea of a Linear time flow?” First of all, that is a great question. Secondly, while in some ways the idea of the Eternal shelves the over all discussion of a linear time flow, it does not necessarily negate it, as others have said. But, thank you for beginning that line of reasoning. No, in my estimation we as human beings in our default state, receive our reference of time as a line of causation. But, not necessarily in the order you might think. i.e. I am struck with a bagel -> I react to being struck by the bagel -> “Hey! Remember that time I was struck with that bagel?” -> “I wonder if I will ever be struck by another bagel?” The first two are more or less the present. The third is the Past, the fourth is the Future. You see, the present is like a live stream. (I realize how ridiculous that sounds but, I am persuaded that I have to make my entries “more relatable to digitally inclined persons if I am to have a ‘digital presence’ on the ‘internet'”) (I do so love parentheses and quotation marks. Don’t you?) Whereas, the past and the future are like Youtube (sp) videos or…. I don’t know the aspirations of Youtube (sp) videos. In other words; The present is a literal and figurative stream of experience, where the past and the future take further filtering, thought and reflection to interpret, Understand and ultimately gain Wisdom from. That, was a long one. I am very glad that paragraph is over.
As I am not a physicist or an astrophysicist, Although I admire them greatly (Neil deGrasse Tyson please follow me!) (I am persuaded that name dropping famous people and asking for their fellowship is “Just how things are done in the ‘digital space'”) my focus is on our species and what I believe makes us individual as well as what makes us universal. Namely our minds. When I speak of Eternity, I take the definition of “a state in which time has no application” and I extended it to its partner Space Time which is defined as, “the concepts of time and three-dimensional space regarded as fused in a four-dimensional continuum.” Thusly creating a definition of Eternity that means the same for linear time as matter.
Now, Hang on! I know you are thinking “Blast it! Here we go again. First he takes me down tie dyed alley reeking of incense and now we are talking about science? Lord Save Us! This man is one of those Ancient Aliens nuts sitting on a mountain waiting for the Annunaki to return” This is a fair point. But, for myself this connection is paramount to a deeper understanding of existence from the point of view of humanity. To separate ourselves from what is ethereal and material is anathema. We are a dual and unified existence. Due to the incredible power of our minds we can conceive of and experience almost anything, and we can do it with Eternity in mind.
It all follows the same line of causation I spoke of before. I am struck with a bagel = Outer Knowledge, Having an experience impact our external senses -> I react to being struck by the bagel = Inner Knowledge, Passing the experience through our internal senses ->”Hey! Remember that time I was struck with that bagel?” = Understanding, passing the Knowledge through to be analyzed and creating Meaning from the experience. ->”I wonder if I will ever be struck by another bagel?” = Wisdom, the use of Understanding and its creation of Meaning to directly impact both our Inner and Outer lives.
So that is it in a nutshell Or, a computer/ phone screen as the case may be. At least, that is all for now. I hope that this first salvo has not completely put you off of me, or reading in general as has happened to me in the past. Thank you for your kind attention and I do hope you have a wonderful life absolutely stuffed with Experience and Wisdom.
Your Humble Servant,
Patrick Ames
